BTW...I'm back

After a small hiatus, I have been able to return to my therapy here in blog world. Now back and available for all the world to judge me.

Whats new...not a lot. Just a booring life. Crazy kids that continue to get older. Music, as always.

Other than that ...I'm dull. Sorry.

What to do....

Here I am faced with a small delima. A choice of money and fun versus running with my heart and not selling out. There is an opertunity for me to join a musical venture playing cover music in a band which plays all of the area casinos, major clubs, festivals, fairs and parties. This gig also pays... fairly well I might add. Now most of you would consider this a no brainer, however, here is the delima. I have and will always consider myself a singer/songwriter. A person of original material and one who has always been of the mind set of " why should I play someone elses material when I can play my own." Granted, I am not a signed musician but I do consider myself a talented musician with the ability to wright good quality songs. I am also currently involved in a project with a group of guys honing our current originals for recording and playing shows of quality. As an original group in KC, that has been a challenge. So my delima lies in this, do I leave my friends and a quality project moving foward for a project which has a strong fan base for money. Yeah, even I know which side of the fence I am leaning toward, its the guilt thing I am dealing with. Damn catholics.

And the Band Marches on

I sat here in this chair, just a few weeks ago , and though that I was going to have a very long road to travel in order to get a viable project off of the ground. I now am involved in two. 3 Bear Bomb Scare has found and secured an incredible talent in a guitarist Spencer. He offers great sound and versatility to us. It is a welcomed addition. I do look forward to working with him. As we get up to par with Spencer we will continue to search for a front man and/ or second guitarist to help round out our sound. It is progress.
On top of this I now am a part of an original project named Beach Toast. Good solid band with minimal covers. More to my true calling. I prefer the creative nature of original music. This is what I have done for many years. Now I have an avenue in which perfect my current songs and put them into a band format rather than the acoustic forum I was working in. I ill also be stepping into the forefront and singing with this project. Something I have shied away from in the past. With this project I will be releasing my music along with theirs. An exciting time for me.
I will keep you all updated with the bands and I hope you will all come out and see us. It sucks playing to no one.

Me...free time? Yeah, right.

For over a month now I have been looking to repair the holes created in my project 3 Bear Bomb Scare. Finding musicians that fit what Aaron and I are looking for is making me go insane. We have found a guitarist named Spencer. A very talented person with good experience and a taste for the music we are looking to play. As for a singer, well the search goes on. But now I am at a point where we can push forward as a trio and get working on material. So everyone can look for me in that project by the beginning of next year.

On the flip side. I have joined with an original project named Beach Toast. A rock project with a hint of 70s style rock behind it, ie: Led Zeppelin, Rush, Supper tramp and so on. We played Jerry's bait shop last night and had great reviews. I am very excited about this. We will be taking Davids songs and my originals and melding our music styles together. Recording will start soon for this project with my new CD to follow. This project will also be featuring my originals also. I hope all will be out to listen.

For today though, I am off to replace a thermostat on Aarons car. Then tonight I will be off to Scott's and we will depart for Chicago in the AM. I hope I can get some writing done one the way up there. I have songs that need to be finished.

I need your help

For those of you who do not know, after the first of the year I will be going into the studio to record my CD. Yep, a full CD of me. Now how self centered does that sound? But now is the time in which I need to think of a title to the album, how many songs I will put on there, which songs I will put on there, a theme to the album and artwork/ images. It will be a compilation of my writings both solo and collaborations with others I have worked with. Some of these people will also be featured. Then you all will get to see me do it live for a while.
